Golf in Tanzania is rather different from most other golf destinations. Not only can you enjoy on almost all of the golf courses the dramatic backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru, but you might also have a Giraffe or Zebra judging the quality of your swing. You can play a round of golf within the cities of Dar Es Salaam and Arusha, at a sugar estate near Moshi and on a newly developed course with championship layout between Moshi and Arusha. TPC Club, Moshi
The golf course has 9-holes and is open year round. Once you’ve teed off from hole number one at the Clubhouse, the course takes you alongside acacia forests and on to well presented greens, with Kilimanjaro always in sight. The course is irrigated by wastewater that has been used in the Factory. Golf clubs can be rented at the Clubhouse.
Kilimanjaro Golf & Wildlife Estate
The golf course has been designed by the internationally renowned golf designer David Jones, a board member of the European Tour and former Kenya Open Champion. The par for the golf course will be 72, with the traditional mix of four par threes, four par fives, and ten par fours. There will be four sets of tees for each hole, allowing the course to be played from a championship length of around 6,500 metres down to a gentle 5,400 metres. At the moment you can play 9 holes with completion of all 18 holes scheduled for July 2014.
Arusha Gymkhana Golf Club
Arusha Gymkhana Club is a private members sports club that provides sports and social amenities to the business community of Arusha as well as members of their families. Sporting events are held from time to time, attracting a large number of business and consumer oriented visitors. The club boasts a challenging 9-hole golf course kept in excellent condition which makes it one of the best golf courses in Tanzania. In addition to golf, the club offers tennis, snooker and has a fully functional clubhouse and catering services.
Dar Es Salaam Gymkhana Golf Club
Established in 1916 as a horse riding facility for the then Tanganyika governor lord Cameron, Dar es Salaam Gymkhana club has, over the years, evolved to become the center for development of all forms of sports and entertainment.The 18 hole golf course stretches towards the Dar es Salaam central business district and to the Indian Ocean.
