Pemba Island

Pemba was for a long time not on the wish list of any traveler. Farming rice, coconuts and cloves provided the sole income for the inhabitants. Only recently, as the number of accommodations and visitors in Zanzibar started to increase, those seeking more solitude discovered Pemba.

The farming continues, but now a couple of unique lodges offer an alternative income. There is an icon of barefoot luxury offering diving and deep sea fishing and a lodge that offers one of the very few underwater rooms worldwide. We offer sailing trips from Dar Es Salaam to Pemba and return on a crewed luxury catamaran with glorious food and very decent wines. Flights to Pemba go via Zanzibar or Dar Es Salaam.
