Rubondo Island National Park

Located on Lake Victoria, north-west of Mwanza, this island Park can be reached only by air or by boat across the lake. Habitats range from savannah to open woodland, dense forest, papyrus swamps and sandy beaches. The variety of animals on Rubondo include the shy, aquatic Sitatunga (a large, shaggy-haired antelope) and, naturally, water birds abound.
