Game drives in all the best Northern national parks, combined with a visit to Lake Natron, Oldonyo L’engai and Machame at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Optional visits to local villages and historical sites in the Machame area

Tour Plan

Day 1:

Collection from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Arusha Hotel or Ilboru Safari Lodge for overnight (bed/breakfast)

Day 2:

After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park, located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Game drive and picnic lunch in the park. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Hotel, overlooking the lake (full board)

Day 3:

This morning we set off for Ngorongoro and descend to the Crater floor for game viewing in this famous caldera. Lunch at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge on the crater rim. Afternoon visit to Ngorongoro Conservation Area ‘officials’ for community conservation development brief. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge (full board)

Day 4:

Today we return to our past with a visit to Olduvai Gorge, the “cradle of mankind”. After a picnic lunch at the small museum, it is only a short drive to Laitoli and the footprints of early hominids (discovered by Mary Leakey). Dinner and overnight at Ndutu Lodge (full board)

Day 5:

On this morning, we journey across the vast Serengeti Plains, amid teeming wildlife and myriad bird species. Picnic lunch en route to dinner and overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge (full board)

Day 6:

Full day in Serengeti National Park, home of the Great Migration, with morning and afternoon game drives. Meals and overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge (full board)

Day 7:

Today we explore further north to a different part of Serengeti. Game viewing en route to lunch at Lobo Wildlife Lodge. Afternoon game drive and dinner/overnight at Lobo Wildlife Lodge (full board)

Day 8:

Full day on Serengeti’s northern plains, searching out the predators and their prey. Meals and overnight at Lobo Wildlife Lodge (full board)

Day 9:

After breakfast, drive to Songyo, a village on the way to Lake Natron. Picnic lunch among the hills and scenic splendour of Songyo. After lunch, continue on to Lake Natron and our camp which is near the base of Oldonyo Lengai, a still-active volcano. Dinner and overnight in camp (full board)

Day 10:

Full day to explore Lake Natron, the nearby waterfalls and the lower slopes of Oldonyo Lengai. Meals and overnight at Ngare Sero Camp (full board)

Day 11:

Enjoy the Great Rift Valley landscape as you drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large herds of elephant. Lunch at the lodge and afternoon game drive. Dinner/overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge (full board)

Day 12:

Departure for lunch in Arusha after short morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. Afternoon drive to Kilimanjaro Region for dinner and overnight at Protea Aishi Hotel in Machame (full board)

Day 13:

Morning tour of Kilimanjaro villages and historical sites with a visit to traditional caves which were used during old time tribal wars. Lunch at Aishi Hotel and afternoon departure for Arusha. Farewell dinner at Mgombani Residence before overnight at the Lutheran Centre Hostel in central Arusha (bed only)

Day 14:

At leisure in Arusha, with curio shopping or town tour, until your transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport to connect with your ongoing arrangements.
